Quick Synopsis

When a smart and capable supply teacher arrives, an entrenched group of colleagues in an Essex, East London border school are saved from themselves.

Surounded by co-workers that have endured years of teaching, administrating or maintenance in secondary schools “in the system”, Cara knowledge of the “ins and outs” of the school bureaucracy and her political survival skills are all that keep things from crashing down.

Marianne, a rebellious French teacher transplanted into Britain and Joyce, a glamourous, but naive, golf fanatic are fellow supply teachers that accept Cara’s return and want to help but create more trouble then expected. Site-workers Terry and Alan, each a sixty something, are always ‘busy’ in the staff room, but no one seems to know what they actually do.

Cara is too smart to trust Joe, a mixed race adonis and supposed professional American basketballer whose background story keeps changing, but she can’t help being attracted to him as things develop and she learns everything is not what it seems.
